Holocaust Memory in Poland

Explore how Poland is dealing with the memory of the Holocaust by visiting a number of exemplary memorial sites in Warsaw and Kraków (Jewish Museum, Holocaust Memorial, deportation collection points, former Auschwitz concentration camp). The students will also get acquainted with the history of both cities in general. The course is open to all students for one UMW credit, but recommended to students of history, human rights, and art as well as to students in German 485E and the Freshman Seminar  FSEM 100H4 “Holocaust and its representation in German and U.S. cultures.”

This course travels with the course “Polish Arts and Culture.” A combined preliminary travel itinerary can be found here.
